Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart were each in different relationships when they met on the Twilight set according to a new report. The lovebirds had undeniable chemistry and they both chose to end their relationships at the time to pursue each other.

According to Twilight director Catherine Hardwicke, Rob was dating his other co-star, Nikki Reed, and Kristen was dating Michael Angarano. “He’s a wonderful actor. He was in Dogtown, one of my favorites, so I felt pretty bad because I love him and they were such a great couple,” said Hardwicke about Kristen and Michael’s fallout.

While most people didn’t believe that Rob and Kristen were both single and looking for love at the time that they met, it is interesting to learn about who they were dating and what became of those relationships. There have been rumors about Robert Pattinson and Nikki Reed hooking up and apparently they already did… awkward. It’s also interesting that Hardwicke says she felt bad about Kristen virtually breaking Angarano’s heart. You have to wonder what actually went down between them and if Kristen just up and left, cold turkey. Perhaps they weren’t really serious to begin with…

Hardwicke definitely put together two people who had a deeper connection than she may have expected. Rob and Kristen have been going strong for years now and there really is no end in sight for their romance.
